Problem
As part of a major refurbishment, the Leichhardt Hotel sought to revitalise its dining and function spaces to create a more modern, comfortable, and acoustically balanced environment. The hotel’s previous layout suffered from excessive reverberation and poor sound control—issues that negatively impacted both guest comfort and the overall dining experience.
With hard surfaces such as tiled floors, glass windows, and open-plan spaces, conversations and background noise often became overwhelming, making it difficult for guests to relax or for staff to communicate effectively. Intrec, the project’s builder, recognised that effective acoustic treatment would be essential to meet both the aesthetic and performance expectations of the refurbishment. Brisbane Acoustics was engaged to deliver a high-quality, durable, and visually seamless solution within a tight construction timeline.
Solution
Brisbane Acoustics collaborated closely with Intrec to design and install an acoustic system that complemented the hotel’s new interior design while significantly reducing unwanted noise.
The team supplied and installed Autex Quietspace 25mm acoustic panels to both the ceilings and walls, ensuring consistent sound absorption throughout the space. To achieve a refined finish, all material joins were detailed with T-Trim edging, providing clean lines and long-term durability.
Installation required precise coordination with other trades to maintain the aesthetic intent and meet the builder’s program requirements. Brisbane Acoustics’ experienced installers ensured all panels were carefully aligned, with acoustic performance maximised through correct spacing, placement, and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
Outcome
The completed refurbishment delivered a dramatic improvement in both sound quality and visual appeal. The Autex Quietspace panels effectively reduced reverberation and background noise, creating a calm, welcoming atmosphere for guests and staff alike.
Feedback from Intrec and the hotel management was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the professionalism, attention to detail, and quality workmanship demonstrated by Brisbane Acoustics throughout the project.
The successful completion of the Leichhardt Hotel project reinforces Brisbane Acoustics’ reputation as a trusted partner for acoustic treatment solutions in commercial refurbishments—delivering results that blend function, aesthetics, and acoustic performance.
