Brisbane Acoustics recently completed a high-profile acoustic lining project at the Rockhampton Courthouse, delivering precision installation and high-quality materials in partnership with the project team.
Problem
The Rockhampton Courthouse, delivered by builder Paynters and designed by Beat Architects, required an acoustic solution that would meet the demands of judicial spaces — clear speech intelligibility, controlled reverberation, and minimal ambient noise — while maintaining the architectural integrity and aesthetic finish of the building. Hard surfaces, open volumes and public circulation areas risked excessive echo and compromised acoustic comfort.
Solution
Brisbane Acoustics installed premium acoustic linings using Autex Quietspace® Panels with Vertiface® facing and trim surrounds, together with Instyle Ecoustic® Matrix 3D Tiles. The Quietspace panels provided robust sound absorption and design versatility, while the Matrix 3D tiles introduced texture and acoustic control on reception and corridor walls. As acoustic installers, Brisbane Acoustics coordinated closely with the builder and designer to integrate the acoustic linings seamlessly within the build program, achieving performance, compliance and finish in one system.
Outcome
The completed courthouse now offers significantly improved acoustic comfort: speech is clearly intelligible in courtrooms, reverberation times are reduced in waiting and ancillary areas, and the finishes align with the designer’s refined vision. Brisbane Acoustics delivered not only an effective acoustic solution but one that elevates the interior environment. The project demonstrates the organisation’s capability as trusted acoustic installers of Australian-manufactured acoustic wall and ceiling systems, working with Autex and Instyle products to create high-performing, aesthetic spaces.
